No, They’re Just Creepy

The Washington Post asks if atheists have a sexual harassment problem:
Officials for The Amazing Meeting, or TAM, said Wednesday (July 11) that women would make up 31 percent of the 1,200 conference attendees, down from 40 percent the year before. A month before the conference, pre-registration was only 18 percent women, organizers said.

The explanations are many — the bad economy, that women, as caregivers, are less able to get away, and that more men than women identify as skeptics, whose worldview rejects the supernatural and focuses on science and rationality.

But in the weeks preceding TAM, another possible explanation has roiled the nontheist community. Online forums have crackled with charges of sexism in TAM’s leadership and calls for the ouster of D.J. Grothe, the male president of the James Randi Educational Foundation, TAM’s organizer. In June, Rebecca Watson, a skeptic blogger and speaker, canceled her TAM appearance because, she said on her blog, she does “not feel welcome or safe.”
The real reason that women don’t show up to these things is because most atheist males are losers. By which I mean that, because they deny the most fundamental of reality, they also deny most other aspects of it as well.  For example, most atheists probably believe in equality, in the broadest sense of that word (save for spiritual equality, because atheists don’t believe the spiritual exists).  Of course, equality does not exist in any material form, but most atheists probably don’t like to admit this.  As such, most male atheists are the lowest form of humanity:  the sincere male feminist.*  These men are not only repulsive to alpha and beta males, but to women as well.  As such, women can’t help but to be creeped out by these losers, especially when so many of said losers seem to have Asperger’s.

The reality is that most of the male atheists who will attend this conference will be too intimidated to even talk to a woman, let alone rape her.  Thus, The Amazing Meeting suffers not from the presence of serial rapists, but from the presence of males that are awash in the stench of loserdom.

* To be distinguished from the insincere male feminist who talks the feminist party line, but still treats women like garbage.  Think Bill Clinton.

  1. Over the past year I've come to see self-described atheists as the absolute worst type of religious people. They're far more obnoxious and annoying than Christians.

  2. That's a sad commentary, Anon, but true - just more divisiveness, I guess. I know several atheists who are truly rational and not the least bit dogmatic; what I can't figure out is, are they the minority or are they simply less vocal?

  3. And, like usual, the women have a really intense group psychodrama going about how horribly they are being treated. It sounds like it's to the point that the first time some guy walked up to a woman and stammered "hello" they would scream sexual harassment. I'm really sick of it.
